Rock wall/altar contstructed by teenagers?

Hello,

Our church youth group is attempting to build a rock wall/altar and we need to find some instructions. I've searched the internet but it all seems to be pretty complicated.

Does anyone know of a way that beginners could create one? Thanks!

yes, but first you need to give us more info...

What kind of rocks do you plan to use, and will where they come from. You really should try to use flat rocks. I can't stress this enough.

How wide and how tall are you wanting the wall to be? Will it be used to sit on?

What will be behind the wall? This is important to the construction.

What area are you in? Does it freeze? Do you have heavy rainfall? Will this wall/memorial be on a slope or level ground?

I don't mean to overwhelm you with questions, it's just that every one of them helps to determine the best way to build.

Also, how many kids are we talking about? And what are their ages?

Suzie

Doing it properly *is* kind of complicated. Many sites on the internet, and many books cover it thoroughly. If you want to do something cheap and easy, it will probably look cheap and not last. I suggest reading those sites again for clear directions. I believe it is doable by responsible, older teens with proper instruction.

SAFETY FIRST!
Former teacher here. When we talk about "kids these days" we are often regretful that they do not excel. One of the reasons is we don't give them the opportunity to do so.

Rocks can be dangerous and a rock structure can take a life if it falls. Someone needs to know what they are doing.

Careful planning, good leadership and supervision and you can have a work of art. Do it. But don't go cheap, don't go easy. This is probably better a long term, not immediate project goal,
