concrete - stain or dye?

| I'm getting ready to do a concrete walkway and I'm unsure whether to mix in dye as I go or stain it all afterwards. Has anyone successfully stained new concrete without etching with muriatic acid? Any thoughts on comparing the two methods of coloring concrete & price differences? |

| If you want a permanent color use a pigment additive. |
