Moging stones just a couple feet

I need to move some bigger stones a few feet. We are going to back fill the area and I was going to try to do this myself. What is the best way to do this?

Well, exactly how big are your stones?

I lifted a HUGE stone (I'm a woman, 5'2) using a crow bar (?) and a rock for leverage. I'd get it raised up a little, then stick a 2x4 under it, with another rock for leverage. Got it up higher then moved the rock in closer.

I kept lifting it higher and higher until I got it on a dolly, which then rolled downhill and the rock fell off. I kept at it for about 2 hours, breaking fingernails and cussing like a sailor until my husband got home and moved the dang rock in about 10 minutes. I really haven't been able to look at it since...

tawnieg, how's it going with moving your rocks? I'm still working at it myself...

You might get more help on the Landscape Design forum...not sure why, but this forum isn't very active.

mamcotti you sound just like me. But it is so satisfying when you do get it moved all by yourself.
