Source for yard rocks?

Posted by don_r Z 5 (My Page) on

I'm looking for large rocks and boulders to landscape my yard- especially very beautiful or unique ones. Large rocks with steaks, marbling, unusual shapes, etc. I especially like mica, white quartz, rose quartz, smoky quartz, ruby spar, petrified wood, etc. Anything that will wow visitors. I live in Michigan but am willing to pick up and haul rocks up to 8 tons from half way across the U.S. Does anyone know of any sources or contacts? Thanks. DonRawson@juno.com

RE: Source for yard rocks?

Because you posted an email, you may have a source already, but if you don't, have you considered asking a farmer? There must be parts of Michigan that are rockier than others. If you see an accessable rock pile, talk to the farmer about taking some rock. He or she might think you are crazy, but we're all a tad crazy anyway, so that shouldn't stop you :-).

I get my rock from a farmer. The only way I even knew about their enormous rock pile was by talking about needing rocks to the farmer's son. Start talking to people you work with, neighbors, etc. They might know someone who will let you on their land.

I have heard so many times in so many places that people will think you are crazy for wanting to get Rocks , or pay for Rocks, or pay for someone to load, deliver or unload Rocks. But I think if Rocks make you happy , then fill you yard with them ! I LOVE ROCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
