concrete/sandcast leaf birdbath-how to?

Hi all,
Just wondering if there is anyone who has ever made the sand cast or concrete leaf birdbaths? I would like to make one and I've found the directions on line in the Garden Gate magazine but am wondering if anyone has any tips or tricks? Also they are very vague about the type of paint to use. Any ideas? Any help is greatly appreciated!

| This is covered in great detail in the hypertufa forum, and the people there are really helpful. I suggest searching through that forum and if you still have questions, post it there. |

Hi, We use vinyl concrete patch from Home Depot. It comes in 40 lbs. bags and you just add water-about 1/2 gallon per bag. You can mix less for small projects. We have made hundreds of leaves with this product including fountains made from various leaves - just about anything that has good veining. xha1man@yahoo.com -email if you would like to see some of what can be done or if you have more questions. Just put concrete leaves in subject matter box |

| Also, gardenjunk.org has albums of the things folks have made with concrete and hypertufa... I believe there are also tutorials. |
