Loose Stone Dust

| I just had a patio installed with bluestone as the floor base. The space between the bluestone was filled with stone dust.
A lot of the stone dust is coming loose, particularly when it rains, as the water travels through the spaces between the bluestones. The stone dust then settles all over the top of the bluestone.
I know that it takes some time for the stone dust to compact and settle in. However, I am wondering if there is any additive or suggestion as to how to make the stone dust adhere quickly so I do not have to wait a year or so for it to compatct and settle.
thanks for any suggestions. |

| Geez... don't know what to tell you but the truth, Zec. We put in a stone path using large Pamona Sandstone with stone dust between the pavers a year ago. The stone dust has not hardened. It has compacted, but that washes away somewhat when it rains.. also weeds do crop up from the stone dust. It's kind of like brown sugar when it compacts, but it's not a solid kind of substance at all. I'd be curious to hear if anyone else has experience with this material. Molie |

| Oops! Not Pamona Sandstone, but Pocono Sandstone, a beautiful grey/brown/cream stone quarried in Pennsylvania. My apologies to all of you from that state. |

Apology accepted. I have heard of something called sandlock that can be applied to sand in the joints of pavers that makes the sand hard and also discourages ants. I don't know where you can get it though. Don |

I have found the sand lock on the internet. It is called Surebond (SB 1300 or SB 1370). I don't know if there are any local distributors or if you have to order it off the internet. www.surebond.com Don |

| I suggest that you stop waiting on Mother Nature and rent a smooth drum roller and compact it yourself. Before you roll it, spray it down with water but not too much or it will have adverse affects. |
