| How do you keep the mulch and leaves off the white rocks and the white rocks off the mulch? I would plant some serious foundation plants or put some dark siding on the foundation, or both. With that much foundation showing you would have to give it plenty of room for the foundation plants to look right. |

BoTann, What you see is actually the basement wall unfinished, which is why there are no foundation plantings yet. We plan to do a rock veneer later on. The main objective was to get the ground covered so that entrances would not be muddy, also to keep the topsoil from washing down the slope. The rock and mulch stays in place pretty well. It's seen 2 hurricanes; 7" of rain with the first, 5" last week. As for leaves, we use a leaf blower, then touch up twice a year with pebbles. We do not want a lawn, so all areas outside of the mulch will be naturalized. |
