I jumped ship from moss forum to here to show you the stone wall I built this summer.

Mortar and Rock, some biggish ones.

May put a pond in the middle eventually.

Regards to All,

Jim

RE: Stone Wall

Love the natural stone, I am planning to use mine as well. I've never tried it, any insight? My dad was a mason, so I know the fundamentals with straight edges. Common sense tells me that natural stone is a whole different game.
Just an idea, saw that Harbor Freight has an 8' X 8' Pond Kit w/fountain head for $99.00. Walmart has a smaller one for $48.00. In addition, you will need a filter, but one can be made from the leftover liner and a small plastic waste can if you are so inclined. My husband and I just put our pond in and it only takes a Saturday. This was a kit we got end of season last year a K-Mart for $79.95. The waterplants can be purchased for 75% off this time of year and overwintered in a dishpan of water in an enclosed outbuilding or basement. In the second pic, you can see the waterfall w/ mini bog in progress up the hill. This is my first try at posting pics so let me know if it doesn't work...

RE: Stone Wall

Thanks for the ideas. I had no experience building before this project. I put larger stones on the bottom and built up throwing mortar in. I think I have the hang of mixing the mortar now but during the project I had all different consistencies. I didn't even use string with this. I kept rearranging until I thought it looked okay. It was near the hardest work I've ever done.

Last night I decided to make the pond larger, almost encompassing the entire circle with a waterfall at one end. I was thinking some moss or water loving growth around the edges.

Thanks again for the ideas. I may follow up asap. Is this the best forum for pond water gardens?

Regards, Jim

You can also go to my home page and view the Album named 'Sunset Hills'. The progress on the yard is mostly pages 5 & 6.
