Coastal Concepts has not disapeared

| Hi everyone and thank you for the ongoing support over the last 6 months or so since I have not been posting on GardenWeb.
Shortly after starting my posts here, and even more so after I started posting pictures, I started receiving about 25 emails per week from people who wanted step by step information in regards to different areas of artificial rock constuction, techniques, waterfalls, garden statues etc.
I am now 100% retired from artificial rock construction with the exception of my personal hobby pieces. I have been developing an ebook in my spare time to fill the huge gap of knowledge that most artificial rock enthusuats have no doubt encountered when researching how to build artificial rock sculptures.
I will be offering this E-book free to all members of the Gardenweb forum when it is finaly completed as you were the inspiration for this project. I know that the rock sculping industry is very reserved in providing specific information as to how to build, and I am sure that you have all seen my posts getting slagged by other artificial rock builders because I am giving up "trade secrets". I am a firm believer that information is meant to be shared.
Artificial rocks are incredibly cheap to build which most contractors do not want you to know because the going rate for a talented sculptor designer is $200 / hour. The difficult part is knowing how to get started and I am going to be sure that this information becomes available to all who seek.
This is the reason for my post. I would like everyone to email me with their questions so I can be sure that all relevant areas are covered in my book. I will not be able to individually respond as I am anticipating a huge number of emails, but please spread the word and email all of your questions. I am going to gauge which areas need the most explaination by these emails so this is the big chance most of you hobbiests are looking for.
Thank you again for all of the support and compliments I have received from you all.
Steve Goodale

| That is a great gift. I think if you just go back thru the posts here in the last 6 months; you will find almost every question being asked. |
RE: Coastal Concepts has not disapeared

| I think this is called advertising, isn't it or is it bullsh*t. Whatever you call it take it elsewhere. |
RE: Coastal Concepts has not disapeared

| Honestly I was not expecting that response. If you are unhappy with what I have to offer, please inform the moderators of this website and if they agree ...so be it. My question to you is, what do you bring to bring to the forum? I have offered nothing but completely free professional advice since day one. I still receive daily emails from people reading my posts which are 6 months old so I thought I would drop in to the Gardenweb forum and let everyone know why I have been absent and invite those who wish to contribute to the process do so. Thank you to all those who have responded, you comments are both helpful and encouraging. Steve Goodale |

| I think it's great that you are offering this free. Thanks for taking the time to help others. Writing a book is no small task. |

| INKognito, your response to Steve's generous offer is shocking. In fact, such a response at anytime, would be inappropriate. For shame! Steve, I have seen your name and advice several times on the internet and look forward to reading your "book." If you're maintaining a mailing list, please add me to it: rachelaugust@charter.net. |

Perhaps not advertising, perhaps not bull and perhaps my response was angry. On the other hand I do think that this does a diservice to the Garden Web because sharing information is what we do here. When someone asks a question on forum the answers are read, not only by the original poster but also by other interested parties , plus it often helps to have more than one perspective on certain types of questions. Soliciting an off forum service is counter to the aims of the Gw as I see it. For an answer to your question you only need to search my forum name through the Gw search engine. |

| Steve, I appreciate your return to the forum (I have to go tell everyone at hypertufa!). Your offer is terrific. I just sent you an email with the questions/comments you asked for from hobbiests. Thanks for the opportunity. I applaud your perfect response to ridiculous criticism - I am sure the moderators of this website can judge what is appropriate and what is not. Laura |

| I, too, support your effort and I eagerly look forward to your book. You have been so helpful in the past, I can't imagine why anyone would object to your making this offer and bringing it to our attention. I, for one, value your advice. I'm sure I'm not alone. |

Hi Steve, Just wanted to say thanks so much for doing this. I haven't posted on this board, but I try to get over to the hypertufa forum every once in a while. I followed the link to this post, and I'm sure glad I did. Thanks again. Stormy |

Hi Steve! Been away with work for a while, just got back and the first thing I read was the post that you are back & offering us this opportunity. I also would like to extend a welcome back to the forum. Forget the negatives. Steve, I just tried to email you some Q's, etc, but it bounced back and said your address had fatal errors, whatever that means. I'll try again. Would love to participate.Would love to get the e-book when it happens. Thanks for the offer you have extended to all of us, Slate |
RE: Coastal Concepts has not disapeared

| A book form of your techniques would be wondrous. Why? Because it puts all of the info in one place. No more searching around, looking for links, racking my wee brain for the answer to a critical question. May Thanks for your generous offer! |

Thanks Steve! I too appreciate your offer and your generosity. Like you, I've been away from the forum due to other obligations but am looking forward to getting back to all that's cement! Will be adding my questions to an email as well. Leigh |

Steve, I'm with you on this issue too. Good on you man! I rarely post if ever on this specific forum, other GW forums I post quite frequently. You're offer is very generous and would be welcomed by many, but there's always a sceptic / critic in the crowd. Cheers, Barrie. |

hey steve thanks for responding i want to do fake rock all around my pool going over the top of the coping and concrete deck any input on this construction i never start small |

| I for one am very happy to see him back and am looking forward to getting a copy of the book. I have spent much time looking at his various posts, and other posts and am thrilled that he would put it all together in one book, for the ease of all of us who are still learning. It can be quite frustrating for a newbie to spend a lot of time "searching" for answers to questions. I for one do not want to bother someone who may have already been asked the same questions a hundred times already. Yet hunting for the answer can be quite time consuming. Way to go Steve....put me on your list for the book. |
RE: Coastal Concepts has not disapeared

| Me too!!! I'd LOVE a copy of the book. I've been lurking for quite a while. We recently purchased a lakefront cabin, and I've been yearning for a rock garden in an area where the rocks are all riverrock size. Really looking forward to making my own rocks. Thanks for the offer! Sandy (fossilnut@isp.com) |

| Hi Steve, Please include me among the folks that are very appreciative of your kindness. To share your wealth of knowledge, by creating an e-book, is a very generous offer. I can hardly wait to see your book!!! Thanks, Debbie |
RE: Coastal Concepts has not disapeared

| I'm very anxious to see your book. This is a new project for me, so I don't know what questions to ask. Thank you, Nancy |
RE: Coastal Concepts has not disapeared

| Like the others, I too will be anxious to learn of your book when you are ready. As others have mentioned, when one is ready to undertake a new project, it can be very frustrating trying to remember where you saw pertinent information. Thanks |

I'm finding it difficult to locate the contents of the mix suggested by Steve. Did anyone have luck buying the following: Fly Ash, Condensed Silica Fume, Glass Fibre, water reducer, liquid acrylic. I live in Phoenix, AZ. |

| Steve, YOU ROCK! (Please pardon the pun. ;-D) I've just found this forum and immediately signed up. It, and particularly you, is (are) providing just exactly the kind of information I was looking for. I can hardly wait for your e-book to come out! Thank you for being so generous with your knowledge, and so patient with folks who have more interest and time than funds. Pam |
RE: Coastal Concepts has not disapeared

| Could I possibly have been right all along? It does seem that the demise of this forum has coincided with Steves success. |
RE: Coastal Concepts has not disapeared

| Wow! Steve sure is a talented guy. He was able to see a need, ask for help, and, in return give something in back for that help, plus he might make a few bucks on his efforts. I wish Steve much success. But were his real talent lies is killing forums? Is that right, Ink? Maybe he could market that too... any ideas? ;) |
RE: Coastal Concepts has not disapeared

| My thanks too Steve for taking the time to include us in your project. I'm sure you will be successful in you venture. Those that share freely always get back more in return. Sandy lifestyles@adelphia.net |

| Hi everyone, IT'S DONE!!! Just to let you know the E-book is completed and available for anyone who wants it. It is true that it took quite some time to complete the project but there was a great deal more involved with doing this than I ever imagined. Anyway, I can not post any information here directly, but if you would like access to the E-Book simply send me an email and I will be happy to get the information to you as soon as possible. Cheers and happy sculpting. Steve Goodale Coastal_concepts |
