Hi everyone, I enjoy the advice that this forum provides so I thought I would post some before and after pictures of my side garden project. Matt

Before the flagstone path:

After - flagstone path and arbor:

Before - stepping stone path:

Before - prep work for stepping stone path:

After - stepping stone path:

These stepping stones lead off the flagstone path into the backyard. They were necessary to handle a grade change after the major path went in. They were some HEAVY stones!

Beautiful. That arbor is really nice, and I appreciate that it is not your typical one.

There is a four inch layer of modified crushed stone and then a couple of inches of stone dust over that. The stones were then dry laid on top of that but the edging stones were mortered in place to lock everything in.

I'm curious if anyone has any suggestions for fence style to tie into the arbor - picket, tongue and groove, etc? Matt

Thanks for sharing your project w/ the photos. Perhaps your fencing could be taken from the arbor itself? Use the natural wood and repeat the design on the arbor's top section so that all would tie the design elements together.

Very nice. Did you make the arbor your self? Cute little girl in center of the arbor! Your dd?

Jill, I ordered the arbor over the internet from a fence dealer in NY. My friend and I installed it. Yes, that is dd in the picture. She insisted! What a ham. And wearing some silly kiddie hair extension thingy no less...Matt
