 o
clean flagstone before laying it

Hi,

I bought some flagstone today and the stones are
very dusty and dirty. Is is it ok if I wash them
first (with garden house) before I lay them out with
mortar. Do I need to wait till they are dry ?

Thanks and Greetings,

Chris

Hi Chris, definitely hose them off before you apply the mortar; the cleaner the rocks are, the better your results will be.

You don't have to wait until the rocks are dry before you begin. The dampness helps the mortar bind with the rock. We keep an old paint brush and water handy to wet the surfaces of both rocks before we apply mortar. Good luck! Karen
