| Actually, I think the comment is entirely legitimate, and I agree with the original post. This threaded style of message board is very old and clumbsy, and I really wish the operators would upgrade. This board is very popular, and the number of ads that the owners are selling must certainly be justified by traffic that the advertisers feel justifies placement of their ads. So I doubt that lack of traffic or revenues would be the determining factor of whether the board should be upgraded. Also, www.phpbb.com (assuming that was the board of choice) is free, so that's not a big deal. The main issue that would hinder a transfer to better software would be the archived posts. To launch the new board would be fairly easy. But moving all the old posts into the database would probably big deal. Another alternative would be to lock all the old boards so they are available for archival research, and encourage everyone to post in the new board. And yes, upgraded software would really make participating in this site a better experience. BTW, yes, I am a professional web developer. My above comments are based on significant experience. |
