Can you recommend a themometer w/ alarm for low temps in GH?

Hi everyone,

I am looking to buy a themometer or one of those small weather stations that come with an outdoor sensor that also has an alarm you can set to go off at a certain temperature?
I have an 8X16 Solexx greenhouse and am in NJ. Right now, I use a basic temperature station with an outdoor sensor that I put in the GH so I can watch the temps and know when I have to put the heaters on or not. But sometimes, the temps change so rapidly, or I am busy and forget to check the temps and it gets cold before I remember to turn the heaters on. So I was looking for a small, cheap temperature gauge / weather station that has an alarm for low temps that can go off to remind me to turn on the heaters.

I also have an expensive Ambient Weather station that is for outside that measures everything from rain, wind, temps, etc, that has a temperature alarm on it but you cannot add anymore sensors to it.

So I am looking for just a basic temperature station that has an alarm. If any of you can suggest a product, I would greatly appreciate it.

Try Oregon Scientifics, they have them. I bought one several years ago at Wally World.

Has anyone seen this before? My greenhouse is right beside my house, so I think this range should work. But it's a lot of money so I don't want to get it and find out it won't work for me.

Unless you need all the features of the system you linked (triggers and such), and you need the 1000 ft. range, I would look at something a lot cheaper. There are LaCrosse and Oregon Scientific sensor systems that can monitor multiple temperatures, sound alarms, and work at 300 ft.. I have several of these because they are so cheap, convenient, and easy to have a redundant system for safety. My cheaper system with 3 sensors was about $30-40. The more expensive systems are around $80. The more expensive systems monitor rainfall, wind speed, pressure. Costco often has a suitable system that can even be accessed on the web for around $80.

My greenhouse is 1/8th of a mile away and on the other side of the road. When I looked into it, my most feasible option was to buy my greenhouse an i-phone and have it call me when it was too hot or cold.

Cole_Robbie, I just luv your idea of a cell phone calling to tell you that the greenhouse is cold. Somebody ought to make an app for that purpose.
