Remodel GH or start over?

Howdy! My greenhouse is in the way of home improvement projects. It came with the house and I have not used it (but plan to "someday" use it). Built in late 1950s against the house, single pane glass (eek) with a brick wall base. I think it was intended for seed starting. I don't know how to make the roof vents open (they're electric, or were once). I'm not going near that scary gas heater. No water inside. Nice shelves.

It's cute. Anyway, if it is to remain, I have to move the door. That seems like a lot of work for something I might maybe use in the future that probably doesn't work that well anyway (not to mention in a climate where greenhouses are not crucial). But maybe it's not that hard, or maybe there are elements worth storing for a new GH some day. And it's BIG for this climate (10ish).

What would you do? Wait for an earthquake? Knock a door in the other side and work around it? Or just yank it out, try to transplant the rose bush, and build a smaller modern GH when I'm ready for it? Thanks! (Does anyone recycle vintage greenhouses?)

What would you do with a Green House?
When you have the answer you will know how to move forward.
Do the research on what it takes to grow ( whatever it is you want to grow) in the GH. Find onut what temp you need to keep, what work is involved etc. ( ie growing tomatoes requires high temps) Then Do you have the funds to rebuild and pay the monthy Gas/electric? Lots of people would like to have a greenhouse, but dont know why and dont realize all the cost to maintain.
I have a 16x24 free standing GH - It cost me $90 every month ( budget plan) to heat the GH 12x90. I keep my temp at 45-50. Not warm enough for some veg plants to grow over winter. I use my GH to over winter lots of non hardy plants and to do some grafting.
If you know what you want to grow, that will help with the decissions your are posting about.

Yeah, the challenge is finding your use for the greenhouse in such nice weather. Ask around locally to see how people in your area are using a greenhouse.

If anyone around here has a greenhouse, they're probably growing pot. Kidding of course (I hope?) but this is a lot of greenhouse for the casual gardeners that we are. I guess I'll let it go. We use it to warm up after playing in the sprinklers. That's about it. (I used to live in zone 6 and desperately wanted a greenhouse. Now, not so much.)

Does anyone know if the parts (vent mechanism, heater, shelves) are worth saving and donating to Habitat or some such place? Do they have any value or use in their unknown condition? Or the glass panels? I don't think I want to advertise on craigslist or freecycle that I have a greenhouse. It might be misconstrued...
