Cold Frame using woven polyethylene

Anyone done this? If so, how effective was it? I saw one in the Gardners supply catalog and decided I would rather make one using polyethylene and PVC tubing. We have 4'X8' raised beds and thought this would be perfect for helping extend our season. I can get the woven polyethylene from Charlies greenhouse at $2.65 a linear foot(9'10" width).

Poly and PVC is a hoop or low tunnel. Second, if you use PVC you want to make sure the material is warranted if it touches PVC, as UV light causes a chemical reaction in some poly material from the outgassing of PVC; EMT conduit is stronger for snow load and in some cases cheaper (and lasts much longer). Check HD for prices and you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Hoops give you more flexibility and choices. If you want a cold frame - - do it right. Hoops/low tunnels are much easier and more flexible and you can put them .
