Drilling tubing

I made a simple tool that allows me to easily drill into the center of EMT conduit.

Imade a 90 degree notch about 3/4" deep in the edge of a 1 X 2 short board, then drilled a 1/8" pilot hole through the remaining depth exactly at the base of that notch.

I can place that simple tool on the conduit and there is no tendency for the drill to track off sideways. I remove the tool as soon as the drill begins to penetrate so the pilot hole gets little wear.

I have used conduit and plastic pipe for numerous reasons but until now I always just lived with broken drills and misplaced holes. This tool took 5 minutes to make and saved me many cusswords while assembling reinforcem, ent for my greenhouse. I know conduit and pipe are major structural components for many in this forum and thought it would be useful to share.
