I have a 6X8 polycarbonate greenhouse, which I love...I've had it for 5 years or so and it even lasted thru Hurricane Sandy here at the jersey Shore. BUT now the other day, I found one of my vent 'windows' blew open and off from the top of the greenhouse and on the ground. does anyone know how I repair this or at least get it back onto the greenhouse, even if I have to make it stationary? all I have left is the sheet of polycarbonate itself, the plastic holder that surrounds it has fallen apart. is there special tape? or glue? (ugh!) thanks.

Do you know the brand name of your greenhouse? It must not be the Harbor Freight 6x8, if the framework surrounding the polycarbonate roof window is plastic, and not aluminum. If you know the manufacturer, you might be able to contact them to see if they sell replacement parts. If the current plastic frame around the polycarbonate window is coming apart due to brittleness caused by sun exposure (that happens a lot in my warmer climate) it may not be repairable. Perhaps you could fabricate another frame from metal stock sold at the big box stores...?

thanks....but then I'm wondering how the heck to get it back attached....its like a puzzle with no room for the puzzle piece. UNLESS it attached on the outside with screws???? I'll have to look up my brand. thanks!!!

If this is an emergency situation (meaning, you have a hole in the roof and plants will be exposed to cold tonight) maybe you could screw the loose polycarbonate window to some thin wooden boards/scraps...and then screw the same board to the existing framework in the roof? Seal gaps with good old duct tape? Hard to know what you have to work with there, but screws will go into polycarbonate just fine, and duct tape also sticks fine, at least for a temporary repair in a crisis.

thank you!!! sounds like a quick fix....I'm gonna go out there now and seal it up, and work on the techincal part after the weather clears. not an emergency. it's a small green house and at this time, my outside kitty uses it as a shelter until the spring thaw...I appreciate the comments!!! very helpful!!!
