 o
hydroponics

Posted by markmahlum (My Page) on

I'm considering experimenting with hydroponics in my new greenhouse. I'll begin with lettuce in a home-made system, probably a Rubbermaid container with a floating foam mat drilled for the baskets.

I assume an aerator is a must.

Will this system out produce a conventional soil in container system?

Any experience with this?

Thanks,

Mark

RE: hydroponics

With the proper use of soluble fertilizer, aeration and circulation, a true hydroponic system can out produce a soil-based system, especially with a crop such as lettuce. Hydroponics can have problems with water borne root diseases, which could lower production.
