| Hi
Can't seem to find any info on this but somebody must have dealt with it. I run a 1500 watt Edison space heater in my fish room during winter and it's more than adequet But it comes on when the temp is ideal and in reverse shuts off when temps are below desired level. Have no idea how thermostat works but it's a VERY old model lol. Any way to fine tune it?? Thanks gary |

| gary, The problem with thermostats in just about every space heater I know of, is the fact that the thermostat is inside of the heater, not on the opposite end of the room where is belongs, so it may not be a defective thermostat at all, just a design flaw. The simple solution for you would be a plug-in thermostat, set as far away from the heater as you can get it. Then just disconnect the thermostat in the heater, turn the heater on, set the fan speed, plug into the remote and let it control the juice to the heater. And if the thermostat in your still heating but now temp. unreliable heater has gone on you, having a good remote might come in handy for the eventual replacement heater anyway. When it is finally time to toss the old heater, you can replace it with one of those small, innexpensive but powerful ceramic jobs that have no thermostat, just speed controls, but they sure put out the heat and seem to run forever. |

| Hi That might be an answer but suspect it would cost more than a new heater ??lol Are there no space heaters that use electronic chips as a temp control rather than expanding metal as a regulator?? They are such an advance in aquarium heaters . i usually rely on the aquarium heaters to keep the room warm but started using the room for a temporary storage for potted plants rather than heating the shadehouse. The space heater keeps the tank heaters from working so hard and of course provides some circulation of the air to even the temps out. Best feature of all was that it was free lol. Thanks for the suggestion will check that out. Now if I just knew what makes themostats work lol gary |
