A 'greenhouse' that's not warm

Here's a thought - and I'm sure someone else has thought of this before and done it successfully.

It ought to be possible to build a "greenhouse" (for lack of a better term) that is not warmer (or at a minimum, not much warmer) than its external environment. For example, one could use covering material that is transparent to visible light but has an IR-reflective heating to minimize solar heating.

Why do this?

Some crops (e.g. fruit trees) tend to be very susceptible to pests and disease. This could be a way to isolate them from the surrounding environment, preventing pests from reaching them, while avoiding the summer cooling problems associated with greenhouses in warmer parts of the country.

Surely someone has already thought this through and come up with a good solution. Does anyone of this being done successfully and of online resources that describe in detail how to replicate this success?

Thanks!
