I like having a fresh-air intake on the stove piped to the outside. My stove is in an adjacent building. It has an induction blower on it that makes a huge difference in the fire. If I had it to build over again, I would like to have had a variable-speed control on the blower.

I burn more wood in two months than friends and family burn to heat a house all winter. Time spent maintaining chain saws and log splitters is worth the time investment. After a can of gas sits for a month, pour it in your car and re-fill the can with new gasoline before you use it in a small engine. Also don't let them sit with gas in them without running every 30 days or so. Those two tips will save your carburetors.
