In our backward southern town, the city picks up stuff like that curbside, on Mondays. I always put anything that might have some value on the curb on Fri. or Sat., and someone almost always retrieves it before trash pickup on Monday. We have people who cruise the trash routes looking for stuff they can use. Everyone around here, except maybe a few newly arrived yankees, knows that if you put it on the curb, it's fair game. Maybe we're better recyclers than we thought.

To get to your question, someone would probably love to have your GH, but your problem will be putting out the word and not regretting it. If you advertize on Craig's or in some local publication of that sort, you will be deluged by all sorts of people you would rather not meet. Or so I hear - I've never used those things because of their reputation. Maybe you could piggyback on someone's yard/garage sale, if those are legal where you live.
