Do greenhouses need ventilation fans runnign at night?

I'm curious if the ventilation fans need to run at night, namely do they still need to run at night during winter. I'm curious about this due to it possibly interfering with the thermal mass heating method I was planning on using.

I find that circulating the air evens the heat distribution. It also helps keep the air circulating which keeps the leaves dryer and helps prevent mildew.

even if you are pulling cold night air in from the outside?

There are two kinds of fans in a greenhouse; HAF's (horizontal airflow fans), which circulate air within the greenhouse, and exhaust fans, which pull outdoor air through the greenhouse. I believe tsmith was referring to the former. There are good reasons to run HAF's at night (which tsmith mentioned), but I see no reason you would have to run an exhaust fan at night.

ok thanks :)

and HAFs would still be needed if it was only a 12'x25' greenhouse?

I won't say they're absolutely necessary. There are people that get by without them. But they have definite benefits. One good thing is that they can always be added later without much hassle.
