Hi - I have some unused space on my property where I want to build a simple covered area for my smokers and large BBQ. Talking really simple here - four posts set into concrete and a simple flat but slightly slanted roof. Are there any good sources for examples or simple plans? Plan to rip out some very old shrubs, level the area, put up the structure and then lay down some pavers on sand - just enough to keep things dry in the rain. Thanks.

Something that simple, with a roof that doesn't weigh much, doesn't require much in terms of design. However, how deep you set the posts depends on how high the roof will be, and what the frostline depth is in your area. Where do you live?

Thanks for responding. I'm in the DC area. I want the roof to be at least 7 or 8 feet high - high enough to let bbq smoke lift. Will be open on a four sides with the exception of maybe a hanging backboard (suspended) for notee, etc. How deep should the posts be set? Thanks.
