Moving a greenhouse

I've been given a greenhouse from the 1930s. It's very beautiful and in pretty good condition -- as far as I can tell by looking at it -- and about an hour away from my house. It's 18x36. I don't know a thing about greenhouses, but I do have room for one and it sounds like something I'd like to tinker with for the next 40 years of my life.

Does anyone know how I might move this? Who would I call? How much would it cost? It's steel and cast iron and cedar and glass. Sounds like really the move impossible thing to move

It sounds like a beautiful structure and I like your notion of 40 years of tinkering. :)

That said, I can't offer anything helpful regarding moving it. I wonder if there is a local contractor/house mover you could contact?

The only way to realistically move this is to be able to take it apart. Is this a commercially built greenhouse, or something built by hand? The answer may make a big difference in whether you can easily disassemble it.

Almost all things are possible now a day. Karin is right. Find someone locally. IÃ¯Â¿Â½m sure they can find a way to move your greenhouse.

I'm sure it could be moved. But being glass covered it would probably cost ten times as much as buying a good new one the same size. If you really want a greenhouse buy a new one covered with polycarbonate. Otherwise save your money.
