GH Sweet Potatoes

Just for fun - we decided to plant a few Sweet Potato slips in the GH here in Zone 3 - just to see how they would do. We dug them up today - they were a failure - haha. The vines grew awesome - the slips were planted in May - but after 180 days the sweet potatoes were about the size of a medium sized carrot! haha. One never knows until one tries!

Has anyone grown sweet potatoes in a GH with success?

Hudson, I also tried sweet potatoes in the GH this year for the first time, with much the same results as you. Not that great of a harvest and the roots got only to 1 to 1.5" diameter.

Plants did well above ground, just did not size up that well. Mine were in the ground ~130 days.

They might make a casserole for T'day, but probably won't be trying to grow these again in the GH.
