But many gardeners have loads of plastic pots stored in basements and garages who would love to unload them to someone who would use them. You might find your local garden club contact and ask, if you are ok with re-using plastic pots.

You would be amazed about some of the deals you can find on Ebay. Check out some nurseries, they usually have stacks of recycled pots that they let you have for nothing.

Big box store L*$#s gives away pots. They are the leftovers from the summer. It might be too late. Here, I can pick them up before they go to recycle land.

If you have a big retail nursery in your area, or a landscaping company, they usually have big piles of them, and give them away for free.

A good friend of mine with a landscape business gave me about 200 4 inch pots along with the sturdy trays that they fit into. I rinsed them with a hose, soaked them in my kitchen sink in detergent and 10% bleach, and they were free. Try and find some used ones and keep them out of a landfill.
