30' x 96' = 2,880 sf
Subtract a minimum of (2) 3' x 96' rows for access = 2,592 sf
Divide 2,592 sf x 4 sf/plant = 648 plants total (approx)

You also need room to walk at the end of each row or group of rows. I have plants end to end along the front and back but in the middle, I left about three feet of room before each row. Mine is only 16 ft' long so I didn't worry about room at the other end but if it was 100 ft. long, I would.

I did make note that 2 rows would be a minimum. But I do agree and if I had a greenhouse that large, there would be row-end access . . . as well as at least 4 ft rows to enable towing a cart through with my garden tractor.

Say - 35-40 lbs of tomatoes from each plant x approx 600 plants = 21,000 - 24,000 lbs! That's a lot to haul in a wheel barrow or push cart. ;-)

In my 18 by 45 I put in four rows. with 3 foot aisles. I put in 98 plants.

I would think that you could put at least 5 rows in the building. I would put a 3 foot walk way on each edge and evenly space the other rows in the remaining space. Which works out to about 30 inch rows and 32-36 inch aisles.

I would space the 18 inches apart and that would mean 64 plants per row times 5 rows would be 320 plants. I would say 30-35 pounds per plant for a nice production and yield around 10,000 pounds per building.

I have a question----Why do you want so many tomato plants?
Just curious

are you doing them in the ground high tunnel style or on benches, potted style? finishing them in there for production or just starting them for sale. could be 648, could be a whole lot more.
