I'm about to put a 4x4 raised bed in one of my parking strips with a variety of the smaller sunflowers growing in it - Elfs, and a couple of the other 2-4' varieties. I've wanted to grow sunflowers for years, so I'm excited to put them in! :)

What I'm trying to decide is what might look nice growing around it. I'd like to plant some kind of low mounding plant around the bed itself, as a border, and thinking that it might be nice to have other things growing in the beds with them.

Any suggestions? What would look nice in combination with sunflowers? Anything that does or doesn't grow well with them?
