Less drying to your skin but just as cooling is Aloe. You can buy 100% aloe gel in a tube, or break off a piece from a houseplant, slice in half, and rub on your skin (although you'd have the poor plant decimated in no time that way).

Chemically speaking, there is a product called "afterburn" or something like that (found in the sunscreen aisle) that is supposed to take the sting out.

If I might, the best stuff in the world is made by Ocean Potion. It is a blue Aloe gel.
I know Wal-Mart has it.
It works wonders (comming from someone who burns throughout summer lol) and helps prevent peeling.

Vinegar works great, and makes your skin feel cooler, though you smell like vinegar. If you have a bad burn, Novacaine spray will take care of the pain. Aspirin (real aspirin, not Tylenol) will help too, because it is an anti-imflammatory. Aloe vera gel will help heal the burn, and some of the aloe vera gels contain extra ingredients like the Novacaine to help with the pain. (I think they are listed as benzocaine, lidocaine maybe? Read the label.)

I read on another site that red wine vinegar mixed half with water would prevent the burn and also promote a tan. haven't tried it yet. i did the same as you. i cooked. i'm still peeling two weeks later.

I forgot to add you are to put in spray bottle and apply every half hour or so.
