Will A/C condensate harm/help a rhododendron beneath it?

We have a small house and have the opportunity to get a used air conditioner to cool our sweltering first floor. The only available window has a rhododendron growing beneath it, the top of which is about 1-2 feet below the window. It occurred to me that the condensate/water from the A/C might harm the rhodie. On the other hand, a statement I found somewhere on the web implied it might actually be helpful (we have tons of dry shade).
Quick responses much appreciated!
Judy

Tube the "condensate" to the ground. You paid dearly for that water so put it to good use.
