Removing asphalt from sidewalk

We just moved into our newly constructed home. The contractor had put in the sidewalk about a week prior to us having our driveway poured (blacktop). My problem is that they got black tar all over the brand new sidewalk, which I've been told can not be avoided. I'm wondering how I can remove the mess from the concrete. Thanks

it could be avoided, all they had to do was cover it.

i should hav eadded that if it is just asphalt on it you can scrape it off. the problem is if they got the tar on there as well. that will require some work and may still leave a stain.
