My boyfriend bought me some beautiful sunflowers today that had been dyed red...and i decided that i want to keep them for as long as i can. though i know the color won't stay.

i would like to plant them in the ground, but i was wondering if that is even possible since there are no roots.

i heard that you could split the end of the stalk and in a sense make new roots....but i'd like to know if that is true and would even work.

if it is possible, does anyone know of a way?
