I have a North Star log splitter about 10 years old. Every time I split a log the control valve squirts hydraulic oil out. I haven't taken the thing apart yet.

Does anybody know if it's a simple problem like a worn "O" ring or if I take the cover off am I looking at bigger problems?

It works fine, just looses oil.
