I have a 7 year old Toro snow blower with an 8.5 horse Tecumseh Snow King engine on it. It has run flawlessly for its life with the usual idle sputter that is common to all of them. That is, ran well until this year. I left fuel in the system last year, unknowingly, and gummed up the carb. I removed the carb this year and cleaned it. With some fresh fuel and some idle time, the engine seemed to run well before taking it out for what had previously been a light snow., less then 6 inches of fluffy powder.
The engine now seems to do some high RPM surging at full throttle, vibrates madly at all throttle ranges, enough to throw the plastic ignition key repeatedly and it actually bogs down under a mild snow load. In the past, it would plow through snow loads that were much wetter and three times deeper without a hiccup.
Any thoughts on what the "master mechanic, me" might have done?
