Yard Machines snow blower augur spins slow

Hello all. Thanks in advance for your help. I have an MTD Yard Machines 22" snow blower. Even though it is around 6 years old it is in almost new shape due to a lack of use. This season I found upon first use the Augur spins slowly and is only tossing snow 2 to 3 feet away because of this. I have checked all of the belts and cabling. Every thing is in like new condition. Any ideas on how to identify the problem or how to speed it up?

Maybe adjusting the control cable a tad shorter would help.

My guess is you'll need to tighten the belt.

I have a yardman 1333 (10 years on that belt). Same thing, No power in the auger/fan. Took off the belt cover, belt deflection was ~1". Carefully removed the nut and washer to the belt tensioner. Tightened it to 1/2". Works fine now.
