Fiberglass tool handle splinters

Anyone found a fix for garden rakes etc. that start getting tiny splinters? I don't always wear gloves or forget and then you get those pesky little splinters. Would painting help or coating with something?

I have used the black foam insulation tubes for insulating pipes from Home Depot or did it come on the rakes?? Schedule 20 PVC “might fit” with a few bolts/screws at extreme ends. Last, Duct Tape in favorite locations.

How about Plasti-Dip?

Two good coats of spray enamel seems to have worked. We'll see how long that lasts.
