How old is a Skil Hedge Trimmer Model # 66? The best I could find was, "Vintage 1950's Skil All-Metal 12'' Hedge Shrub Trimmer". It's on its 2nd life with me, after it was given to me about 20 years ago. It's listed at the following address. Twice I thought the electrical wiring had failed (knowing I saw a spark but no breaker was trips or total power loss). I totally disassembled the (Good Working/Cutting) trimmer and found no problems. I found I had damaged the extension and repaired it. I also learned that the gas trimmers are the way to go if you have real trimming jobs. The Son-In-Law's at least 36" Sthil Gas Trimmer was a very quick/easy/safer job. loger

"Peace On The Old Trimmer". I'll go with newer electric trimmers for "Small" home use only before Pro Gas Models. The newer plastic double insulated units should protect you better against accidental shock. They should be lighter but I doubt they last as long as "Old Metal Or Old Timers"!! loger
