Craftsman Garage Door Opener Adjustment Issue

Posted by brians72 OR (My Page) on

I have a Craftsman 1/2HP Garage door opener that is roughly 10 years old. I just replaced the main gear due to wear (the worm gear was fine). I hooked everything back up and used this forum (thanks Don) to it running again, but I am finding that when the door reaches the ground, it bows the track up just a bit. When I open it, it straightens out and opens, but when I close it it bows the whole track. I have played with the adjustments in the back but can't seem to find the right tweak that will get it to just come to a stop but not push the track up. Any ideas for me?

RE: Craftsman Garage Door Opener Adjustment Issue

The adjustment for this is on the side of the unit. Use a small screwdriver and turn the 'down limit' in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover.
