String Trimmer Question

I have a Ryobi SS30. When cutting 12 - 18 inch weeds/grass, the grass tends to get wound up around the trimmer head and the head comes to a stand-still. I have to flip the trimmer and clear the grass by hand to get it to run again. I would love to get a better trimmer but if this happens to all of them, I will hold off.

It happens to all of them in knee high or taller grass.

Make your first cut about 1/2 up the stem of the grass and then go back and cut at the level you want it cut.

Don't let the machine bog down either, move slower and take smaller swaths if needed. Trimmers are designed to run at WOT (wide open throttle).

I use to have that problem until I discovered not all string trimmer are created equally and got a FS-80 Stihl.If it wraps it does not bog down and wrapping is very seldome.
