Planter Brackets

While I'm active in the THS forums, this is my first visit here and I'm not really sure what section to put this in.

We have some of those ordinary rectangular plastic planters that sit on our deck railing. What I would like to find is a bracket that would keep them on the rail during high winds. I know they sell planters that have kind of a U shaped bottom to sit over the rail but I'd prefer not to buy more planters.

Any suggestions?

Assuming that you have a 2x4 type railing, how about if you screw the planter to another 2x4 and then face the sides w/ a 1x4 to form a U. Or you could visit your local building center and find some construction brackets IE Simpson ties that may be more stealth.
