What is your opinion of the tool-less chain tensioning feature on a chainsaw? I have heard they can have some problems.

RE: tool-less tensioning

The tool-less chain tension is a convenient feature but I personally prefer to adjust the chain manually. By doing it manually you can be assured it is properly adjusted right.

RE: tool-less tensioning

I had the tool-less setup on a Stihl 018C. Disliked it so much I bought the parts to convert it to conventional tensioning. Huge dirt trap.

Another case of someone trying to reinvent the wheel.

That is my feeling too. In fairness, it is pretty hard to over tighten the chain but I much prefer the conventional system.
