Trimmer Not Working

I have a Black and Decker Trimmer. When I try to use it, the entire part that contains the string falls off (the spool housing falls off). The spool housing is completely threaded since it is plastic, and the motor screw is metal.

What do I replace? I've tried looking for replacement spool housing, but I can't find any specifically for my model. Actually, I can't find many hits for replacement spool housing parts at all. I checked Amazon and they basically said that this trimmer was a piece of junk and that similar things happened to them.

Would it be viable to add a few drops of thread lock?

As an experiment since that seems to be what you are down to. Is there enough plastic and metal threads that plastic can be removed from the plastic and a lock nut can be added??? Did it ever work and what appears missing or worn?

A larger drill bit can assist in machining the plastic off. I feel I have seen metal nuts embedded in some of the spools. Left-hand/right-hand threads might be an issue. Total Quality Products Might Be History. Good Luck!
