Brushcutter blades - Sharpening

Posted by knuttle z7bnc (My Page) on

The other day I was cutting brush. I found my weed eater with a brush cutting blade would not cut a a Metal "T" fence post.

Original blade that came with the Cub Cadet. BC-509

Can a brush cutting blade be sharpened to bring it back into balance?

Is there any thing I should look out for if I would try..

I have one (an Echo). It's soft, easy to file (probably soft is a safety feature - not likely to chip off pieces).

When done, balance it on a nail, same as a lawn mower blade.

That's what I though but have never done it before, so I was looking for the voice of expedience.
