Troy Bilt tiller engine replacement

I am replacing the Briggs n Stratton engine on my Troy Bilt Horse tiller with a Kohler engine. Do I need to put a spacer over the shaft (between the tiller and the engine), so that the belt pulleys will be in alignment? If so how thick of a spacer do I need?
