Stihl won't run on it's side

My MS2700 starts and runs in the vertical position, but once turned on it's side to cut a tree it stalls. After a number of times doing this, and at full rpm it will stay running on it's side, but once set upright, stalls out. Sounds like a fuel problem, but I'm not sure what. Any suggestions?

need to check the fuel line inside the tank.....sounds like it may have a split in it.

Thanks, I'll check it although I was told the fuel line had just been replaced. Maybe there was installation damage that was not apparent.
