Another question about heating weeds

I read the discussion about using a propane burner to heat/kill weeds. Sounds like heating doesn't get high marks for 'permanent' removal. (I know, nothing is permanent)
I recently read about a different tool - the ecoweeder - which doesn't put out a flame but does create a very high infrared heat that supposedly kills weeds. See
Our local paper said it would kill convolvulus arvensis and, with repeated applications, bermuda grass type weeds. Does anyone have experience with this type of heat treatment?

No matter the method, you need to kill the root, not what you can see.
