Homelite Chainsaw only runs at high speed

I have a Homelite 18" Timberline chainsaw. When I first start it, it runs strong and idles fine. I adjusted the idle "T" screw out counterclockwise so that the chain doesn't move at idle. However, once I try to cut any wood at all, the saw will only run at high speed regardless of whether I pull the trigger or not. It will not idle down so that the chain does not move. I have tried to turn the idle speed screw out further but nothing helps. Any ideas would be helpful.

Thank you, Jack.

Sounds like your mixture screws are turned out too far. Try re-adjusting the low speed and high speed mixture screws.

Your Timberline probably has a Walbro carb so the Hi/Lo needles are set for 1 full turn out. Be sure to check that the carb is firmly screwed on.
