| My John Deere Sabre was inundated in the re net Queensland floods. The engine lives again. Drained fluids, cleaned out, turned over with plug out, cleaned carb, re oiled, put together, then started. Engine ok.
But now for the hydro transmission. Any advice? How do I check for water in the fluid? Can water get in? It was under water for about 24 hours. Filthy water. Our new case tractor lives again. A genre lives again. Fridges are dead. Fax machine is dead. Maybe I can get the lawn mower serviceable again. Thanks Mark |

| I don't envy you mate! Is there water inside? I would guess yes as these have an external vent and the tractor also has some years on it. You could clean off the top of the TA (dirt inside is ungood), pull a breather / fill plug and take a sample. Just exactly how this works depends on what transaxle is in there. Or, you could pull the transaxle and do a drain and refill. Like you probably need something else to do... |

| Thanks Tom. I was trying to avoid removing the transaxle. It is a mongrel to line up and get the belt on to refit it. But I Suppose that's what ive got to do. And soon. The corrosive effect of the mud has to be seen to be believed. Engine was full to the top, much oil had been displaced. I think most of the corrosion that we found on the tractor and mower is because of the batteries. The gernie and other stuff flooded in other buildings seemed ok. If people are interested, I could discuss the process for getting the tractor operational. It was an interesting process, and thankfully successful. This gear is not mine. I am connected to the local footy club. All their gear went under and I am trying to recover what I can. Also on the list, pressure pump, washing machine, electronic scoreboard, parts of PA system, stoves, slashers, expresso coffee machine.... Very thankful that the Gernie goes. Cheers Tom, will post the result on the transaxle. |

| Don't understand a Gernie! But--a lady friend accidently drove her Wheel Horse lawn tractor into her pond, ended completely under water, for an hour or so. The tractor, not her! When her son-in-law got the tractor out, he dried it off out in the sunshine, checked it all over, and it started and ran again. |

| Gernie is a high-pressure water cleaner. www.genre.com.au , probably www.genre.com also. It has had a lot of work these last few days. Washing machine went in about 6 inches of water. Cleaned it off with the Gernie. It goes again. Trans axle is out of the mower, no water in it, yay!! but I'm pleased that I took it out. There was heaps of gunge on top of it and in the fan. I would never have got it clean without removing it. Bit more cleaning then reinstall the transaxle, then the mower is good to go. |
