hello all i have a crankshaft from a 16.5 b/s 313777 man 12/2000 all journal surfaces are within specs and in good shape. there is heat discloration on both sides of the main journal in the casting, it spreads out a good 3/8 from the edge of the journal on top and goes to nothing at the bottom. i read that heavy duty crankpins were heat treated at the factory. my question is, are the markings on the crank any means of identification? thanks

thanks for a reply Tomplum. i see the cunfusion in the Question. this is a walmart machine that has lasted me ten years i,m sure i'll replace it, but i'd like to keep it running for my grandaughter.the intake valve was bad so i got a used head.i tore it apart to check all inside. everything is allright as far as tolerence, but the crank is blue to black on both sides of the main journal.the crank has #771&32 on one side & RWG otherside.will it be a waste to put it back together? cost $50.00 for the head and gasket kit thanks

From what you say about the crank being in spec, and it seems like you have ran it for ten years w/o a lower end failure- one would think that it would continue to run without issue. I assume that you will reuse the old rod?
